Press release: "... The future of the modern city is a computational model — a vast array of vectors and data points, mapping the urban environment and its residents. This future resides in a technological grammar of digital networks, information protocols, city services, applications and monitoring systems that constitute what you might call a computational city.
The promises of new technologies and their implementation differ significantly, as we are now painfully aware. Ideally, urban development policies and statistical models exist in open information infrastructures that help policy makers rethink city services in accordance with citizens’ needs and desires. In reality, it’s a mess: The implementation of new technologies somehow has become the aggregation of data into black boxes, elusive and imbued with political agenda.
The Aarhus Urban Operating System captures the city’s audiosphere and explores the language and politics of the city’s development plans. AaUOS documents the city as it is changing, producing an urban development pop music for Aarhus and its futures ..."
